Wicked Witches of Pendle Island Series by Mara Webb

Wicked Witches of Pendle Island Series by Mara Webb (1-7, 9)
Requirements: epub reader, 1.5 mb
Overview: I write short, sweet and (hopefully) funny paranormal cozy mysteries. I like sassy witches, annoying cats, cute towns and everything magic. When I’m not writing rants from mouthy fictional cats, I am looking after my one year old boy or my husband. (Not sure which one is more difficult to be honest.)
Genre: Mystery/Thriller

1. As Witch Would Have It – Chelsea Moon has had better days. Weeks. Months. Years.
When real life gets too hard Chelsea decides to fly back to Pendle Island, a place she has not been since she was born. She’s looking forward to a vacation, but when she arrives, she’s quickly thrown into mayhem. Her Great Aunt Griselda has died, and Chelsea is needed at the funeral.
She’s barely halfway through a stack of breakfast pancakes when her cousin Lizzy drops another bombshell. Chelsea is a witch, and her Great Aunt didn’t just die. She was murdered.
Things go from bad to worse when Chelsea and her cousin start to follow the breadcrumbs. Her Great Aunt had been an infamous miser and hated by just about everyone on Pendle Island. Witches don’t get much more wicked than Griselda.
After an ancient legal loophole leaves Chelsea as the sole heir of Griselda’s estate, she suddenly finds herself in charge of a haunted house on a hill, home to a mad pirate ghost, a talking cat, and a burly lumberjack with a curious secret.
If that wasn’t enough, she’s got a dreamy sheriff to contend with, and a silver-tongued lawyer who is as charming as he is cunning. It’s a lot to process, especially when Chelsea learns about a family curse dangling over her head. The last thing she wants is to end up like her man-eater mother, but it seems she can’t help attracting attention…
With a curse to run from, a murder to solve, and a needy cat to please, Chelsea finds her plate fills up very quickly. There’s also the small matter of avoiding death and learning magic, but that’s easy enough. Right?

2. A Witch Before the Storm – Pack your bags, we’re going skiing!
Chelsea Sponks is quickly settling into her new life on Pendle Island, and slowly getting used to being a witch. The annoying talking cat? Still getting used to that. The almost-empty bank account? Time to get a job. Fast.
When Chelsea uses the last of her inheritance to keep her friend Adam in employment, he rewards Chelsea and her cousin Lizzy with a free weekend stay at his family’s luxury ski resort, Chalet Roth, on the northern tip of the island.
The pair jump at the chance for a little relaxation. Things have been hectic on the island since Chelsea helped to solve her aunt’s murder, and she’s become something of a local celebrity. Getting away for a few days will be good.
Chelsea’s hopes of anonymity quickly crumble upon check-in. The chalet’s owner, Chester Roth, personally welcomes Chelsea to the chalet after recognizing her from the Pendle Island newspaper. The girls have barely sat down in the Chalet’s mountain-top bar when Chelsea trips over a body.
Now she’s trapped at the top of a mountain in a magical ski chalet, surrounded by a cast of wealthy and elite who all happen to have a connection to the deceased. Biggest of all is Chester, who becomes suspect number one when a key piece of evidence is tied to him.
With nowhere else to turn Chester hires Chelsea to clear his name. Now she has a murder to solve before the killer gets away, all while keeping her mischievous cousin and annoying cat in line. Proving Chester’s innocence won’t only keep him out of prison, it will give Chelsea a much-needed paycheck!
If that wasn’t enough there’s a vegetable thief on the prowl too, but murder and robbery aren’t the only puzzles afoot. Chalet Roth is a boiling pot of paranormal perplexity.
With their vacation plans up in the air it might be time to put down the hot chocolate and get down to some mystery solving, but with all that going on Chelsea can’t help focusing on the most important question of all…
Will she even have time to hit the slopes?

3. Witch Things Come in Threes – They say that good things come in threes. Does that still count with mysteries?
Chelsea Sponks is starting to settle in on Pendle Island. Hot and dreamy boyfriend? Yep. Good friends and a place to call her own? Sure. A nice relaxing cat that knows when to shut his mouth? Well… maybe.
After solving several mysteries on the island Chelsea becomes a bit of a local celebrity. If landing on the front page of the island newspaper paid the bills, she might never have to worry about money again!
Chelsea is in much need of a job however, and after applying everywhere on the island she resigns herself to some volunteering to help pad out her resume. A nice quiet job in a charity bookshop should be free of drama and trouble, right?
Yeah, sure.
Life isn’t normal for long before Chelsea finds herself headfirst in another mystery. When a job interview goes awry, she stumbles over a dead body and is soon tasked with putting an impossible conundrum to bed.
If that isn’t bad enough more mysteries seem to be cropping up left, right, and center. There’s a book thief about, Chelsea’s gardener has gone missing and everyone on the island is infatuated with a brand-new fashion trend for some reason.
On top of all that Chelsea finally has to begin her magical training and tackle her first official test. Between solving a murder, catching a thief, finding an arsonist, and keeping her endlessly needy cat happy, it’s safe to say her hands are full.
Maybe it’s time to leave Pendle Island once and for all?

4. Son of a Witch – There’s no rest for the witchy on Pendle Island. Chelsea Sponks barely scrambles her way out of one mystery before falling headfirst into another. If that isn’t bad enough her boyfriend, town sheriff Deacon, has just discovered that she’s a witch.
Oops.
Now Chelsea’s boyfriend is under official magical investigation, and he’s took off running into the woods before she can sit down and explain anything. With a weekend of sulking ahead of her Chelsea finds her plans quickly turned on their head when Lizzy asks for her help at an art show.
The event? A world famous artist launching an international exhibit on Pendle Island. The attendees? Stuffy, rude, and seriously lacking manners. The showstopper art piece? A body in a box, and a new mystery, all for Chelsea to solve.
To top it all off she has a house guest that won’t stop stapling teabags to the walls, a sick cat with a penchant for drama, and a missing gardener, who seems to have made enemies with a local werewolf pack.
Things could only get worse if her mother called to announce a surprise visit…
Ring, ring!

5. Old Witch New Tricks – Lights, camera, murder!
It’s one thing when Chelsea Sponks finds out she has a secret brother. It’s another when her mother shows up for a surprise visit, with many suitcases stacked around the kitchen table. Chelsea’s mom reveals there’s more to this trip than meets the eye…
Forced into some mother-daughter time, Chelsea goes to a local film studio on Pendle Island to oversee a TV adaptation of one of her mom’s mystery novels. Not only is the head producer a total sleaze ball, but he’s also an old flame of Chelsea’s mom, and his changes to the source material leave a lot to be desired.
Things go from bad to worse when a dead body turns up on set, one that is not in the script. The police then turn their attention on Chelsea’s mother as the lead suspect in the case, and Chelsea realizes she has to solve this thing before her innocent mom is put away for good.
If that’s not enough her dear mother Lorelai reveals there is another purpose behind this trip. She came back to the island to track down Chelsea’s father, and she’s whittled her list down to three likely candidates.
All Chelsea has to do is stay along live enough to figure it all out…
And, cut!

6. A Witch in Time – Chelsea Sponks is getting used to Pendle Island and its mysteries now. A murder mystery here and there? Nothing unusual. A missing person case? Par for the course. When a phone call from a friend disrupts a chaotic family meal however, a case lands on Chelsea’s lap that leaves her utterly baffled…
How can an entire town go missing?
With the help of her cousin, Lizzy, and her werewolf gardener, Adam, Chelsea decides to ditch her failure of a family dinner and goes to help her friend, Viktor. Chelsea’s witchy intuition is off the charts, and she suspects her friend is in mortal danger, a suspicion backed up by the abrupt screaming on their last call.
Together the three of them venture into an area of wild and unknown magic that resides at Pendle Island’s centre. Once they cross the magical threshold, they suddenly find themselves transported back in time, to an era of root beer floats, Cadillacs, and jukeboxes full of good old fashioned songs.
Lost back in time, Chelsea and her friends find themselves trapped in the past, wandering the streets of a town that never seems to have existed on the island, but always seems to have been there…
With a decades’ old cold case to solve, a friend to find and a missing town, Chelsea sure does have her hands full, and matters are only made worse when her talking cat, Artemis, sneaks along for the ride.
Will the gang solve the puzzle before it’s too late?

7. Witch at First Sight – Chelsea Sponks has a slight problem, after fixing a time-sensitive issue she returns to Pendle Island to find everything is the same, except for one thing… her boyfriend, Sheriff Deacon Long, doesn’t seem to know who she is.
With some assurance from her brother, troublemaker Rudy Malkin, Chelsea believes Deacon’s amnesia is a temporary glitch, one that can be remedied by spending a little time with the man she had formerly known as her boyfriend. The only problem is that Deacon thinks she’s a crazy stalker and doesn’t want anything to do with her.
It seems that fate wants the lovers reunited however, and when a string of unlikely events leave Deacon and Chelsea stranded out in the wilderness of Pendle Island, they have no choice but to work together if they want to survive and get back to civilization.
While out in the sticks the couple happen upon a cabin and are taken in by the kind old gentleman living there. They quickly find out his daughter has been missing for two years, a cold case that was never solved, a box left to gather dust.
Together they resolve to help out their new friend and try and track down the missing woman. The only problem is that Deacon has some old ties to the police department that worked this cold case, and things didn’t exactly end well. Hello, crazy ex-girlfriend!
With a case to solve, a potential murderer on the loose, and a relationship to save, Chelsea seems to have her hands full. Matters are only made worse from a strange creature that seems to be prowling the island. Pendle seems to have found itself a new creature in the forest, but is there more to the mystery than meets the eye?
There are many questions to solve, and obstacles to overcome. Can Chelsea figure it all out before fate sets its sights on her?

9. Come Witch With Me – When a mysterious spell takes over Pendle Island Chelsea and her friends find themselves transported back to high school, oblivious that anything is amiss. They say high school can be murder, Chelsea didn’t realize just how literal that was.
Chelsea’s familiar Artemis seems to be one of the only people aware that something is wrong, but when he tries to alert Chelsea that she and the island’s inhabitants are living in an illusion, he soon realizes that getting a teenager to listen to you isn’t always that easy.
Between teenage drama and the stress of a volatile high school relationship, Chelsea soon opens her eyes and notices that life doesn’t quite add up. How can she be the same age as her mom, and how can they be at high school together?
As adolescent hormones run wild the winds of change sweep across Pendle Island. New friendships are forged, old ones are broken, and Chelsea learns more about her family history, discovering that the Sponks family once had an ancient feud with another sect of witches.
Can Chelsea stop thinking about shopping, her on-off relationship, and school ground gossip long enough to catch the culprit of the magical mischief? When a mysterious spell takes over Pendle Island Chelsea and her friends find themselves transported back to high school, oblivious that anything is amiss.
